The hedgehog’s body is made in one piece, working in the round, in a continuous spiral. The paws are joined in as you go. The nose, ears and rosy cheeks are sewn on at the end. There are a few options on how to add the spikes, depending on what yarn you would like to use - decorative crochet triangles, a fur texture, and an option using small yarn tails.
The instructions are written in US crochet terms. There are step-by-step photos detailing how to make the pieces and finish the toy. When made with DK weight yarn (Sample 1 is made in Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK) and 3.0mm hook the finished Hedgehog will measure about 18cm/7 in long. When made in Chunky chenille yarn with 4.5mm hook the sample measures about 31cm/12in long.
The pattern can be made in a variety of yarn combinations, make the spikes in one colour or a whole rainbow!
