What is an amigurumi anyway? |
Amigurumi are tightly-made crochet toys worked in a spiral from a ring, using simple shapes and stitches, with the main goal of being super-cute! The term 'amigurumi' comes from Japan, and translates literally as 'knit or crochet toy'. |
You live in the UK. Do you use US stitches or UK stitches? |
When I started making patterns I used Japanese and American crochet books as my guides, without knowing there are different terms used in UK, so my patterns are written in US crochet terms. |
I've never made a "magic ring", will you explain it in the pattern? |
Yes, there are step-by-step pictures at the start of each pattern, showing you exactly what to do. It's easy! |
What does "reeneegurumi" mean? |
"reeneegurumi" is simply my nick-name "reenee" with the end of "amigurumi" - so amigurumi toys made by me! |
How long does it take to make an amigurumi? |
It really depends on the size and complexity of the critter. I'd say the average making time is about 6 hours, but creating the pattern takes longer. |
How can I feature my finished toy in your gallery? |
I love to see stuff you make! Simply send me an email with the image attached or a link to where I can find the image, like flickr or twitter. |
Can I sell toys I make with your patterns? |
You are most welcome to sell the finished objects you make with most of my patterns, my only request is to add a link to my website if you are planning to sell them on Etsy or similar communities. |
How long does each pattern take you to make? |
Again, this depends on how complicated the critter is. I usually make a prototype first, then make another one, photographing it step by step. After that I make the pdf, and check that everything is looking pretty and makes sense. Oh, and I spell-check everything. Just in case. |
